Terms of Use
Last updated: March 2026
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of OurStreet (“the Platform”), operated by BanksLabs Pty Ltd (“We”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using OurStreet, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Platform. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
Who can use OurStreet
To use OurStreet you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Use your real name and a genuine photo of yourself
- Register using the unique entry code for your address only
- Be a current resident or owner of the property you register
We reserve the right to refuse or remove any account at our discretion. We may introduce additional eligibility criteria as the Platform grows.
Residents and owners
OurStreet recognises two types of property claimants:
- Residents (tenants and owner-occupiers) have full Hub access, including the feed, neighbour map, and messaging.
- Owners (landlords) may claim a property to confirm ownership and appear on the street map, but do not have access to the Hub feed or resident messaging. Owner access may be expanded in future.
- If both an owner and a tenant claim the same property, the tenant’s claim takes precedence for Hub access purposes.
By claiming a property, you confirm that you are either a current resident or the legal owner of that address.
Your account
OurStreet uses magic links and passkeys for authentication — there are no passwords. A verification link or passkey is sent to your registered email address or device.
- Keep your email account and device secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- One account per adult at your address. Do not share your account with others.
- If you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation, contact us immediately.
- If you move address, please update your account details before you leave so your address can be made available to new residents.
Vouching and reporting
During onboarding, verified residents can vouch for neighbours who are joining the Hub. You may also report a member if you have a genuine concern about their identity or behaviour.
- Vouch honestly. Vouching for someone you don’t know, or to assist someone in bypassing eligibility requirements, is a breach of these Terms.
- Reports made in good faith will be acted on. We do not require reporters to provide evidence before we act.
- Using the report function vindictively or to settle personal disputes is itself a breach of these Terms and may result in removal of the reporting account.
- Decisions about membership, including removals following a report, are made by OurStreet and are final. There is no appeals process.
What you can and can't post
You may post content that is relevant to your street or local community, is honest, respectful and neighbourly, and that you have the right to post (including photos of others — ask first, especially for photos of children).
You must not post content that:
- Is defamatory, harassing, threatening, abusive or offensive
- Promotes a business, product or service (unless a neighbour has specifically asked for recommendations)
- Is sexually explicit or contains nudity
- Infringes any third party’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights
- Contains false or misleading information
- Links to harmful, offensive or unlawful material
- Constitutes spam
Content posted in your Hub is for your Hub. Do not share it outside without the poster’s permission.
Your content
You own the content you post. By posting it on OurStreet, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and store it for the purpose of running the Platform. We will not sell your content or use it for advertising.
You warrant that you have the right to post any content you submit, and that it does not violate anyone else’s rights.
The AI Community Manager
Your Hub includes an AI Community Manager that may post content on behalf of OurStreet — for example, a weekly bin day reminder, local planning alerts, or a prompt to get conversation started. It always posts in its own name and will never impersonate a resident.
- The AI does not read your private messages.
- It does not make decisions about your account or residency status.
- The OurStreet team can configure or disable AI posting at any time.
Moderation and enforcement
We reserve the right to remove content that breaches these Terms or our Community Standards. We may also suspend or permanently remove accounts that breach these Terms.
If your account is removed, you may not create a new one without our written consent. We do not screen content before it is posted. If you see something that concerns you, please contact us.
Our liability
OurStreet is a platform for neighbours to connect. We are not responsible for the content posted by residents, or for anything that happens as a result of connections made through the Platform.
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, we exclude all implied warranties and limit our liability for loss or damage arising from your use of the Platform. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
Where Australian Consumer Law applies and we cannot exclude liability, our liability is limited to re-supplying the relevant service.
Intellectual property
All intellectual property in the OurStreet Platform (excluding user content) belongs to BanksLabs Pty Ltd or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit any part of the Platform without our written permission.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll let you know via the Platform or email. Continuing to use OurStreet after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
